This is indeed a brilliant article and needs to be read again and again … Here is a list of 15 things, which, if you give up on them, will make your life a lot easier and you’ll feel much, much happier. We hold on to so many things that cause us a great deal of pain, stress and suffering and instead of letting them all go and allowing ourselves to be stress-free and happy, we cling on to them. Well, not anymore. Starting today, we will give up on all those things that no longer serve us, and we will embrace change. Ready? Here we go! 1. Give up your need to always be right. There are so many of us who can’t stand the idea of being wrong wanting to always be right even at the risk of ending great relationships or causing a great deal of stress and pain for us and for others. It’s just not worth it. Whenever you feel the ‘urgent’ need to jump into a fight over who is right and who is wrong, ask yourself this question from Dr. Wayne Dyer: ‘Would I rather be right, or would I rather be kind?’ What difference will that make? Is your ego really that big? 2. Give up your need for control. Be willing to give up your need to always control everything that happens to you and around you situations, events, people, etc. Whether they are loved ones, co-workers, or just strangers you meet on the street ...

15 Things You Should Give Up For A Happier Life

Despite a daily illusion that our lives may be fairly stable, in the physical world change happens all of the time. Our cells change. The breath changes. The heart rate increases or decreases according to what we see, hear, and do. We especially notice when we meet up with friends after some time and see how they or their kids have grown, gained weight, grown or lost hair and transformed. If we live anchored only to the material world this kind of constant change feels frightening. It’s a threat to our very existence. But if we can recognize that we are spirit inhabiting a body and the body is like a pair of jeans that can be changed, then fear and much insecurity vanishes. When all faith is put in the material world, then much heartache will result. When faith is put in the Divine, or in one’s spiritual Self, life becomes bearable and moments of joy pop in to lighten the way. As your days go on reflect a little about where you put your faith. Is it in others? In a relationship? A job? All of these will surely change at some point. But when we commit to a spiritual life the anchor lies deep within, in that eternal light of the spirit that in the Vedas is called, atma, a small piece of God, theParamatma. As the mind turns more to the inner world of the soul and relies less on things in the world for satisfaction, the ...

Change 24/7

Still repeating the same self-defeating patterns? Dating the same kind of controlling jerk you vowed to avoid three controlling jerks ago? Putting off assignments until the last minute, then making sloppy mistakes in a rush to meet deadline? Sleeping late, not going to the gym, overeating… and then hating yourself for it? On the surface, it makes no sense. Why would anyone keep shooting themselves in the foot when clearly they can see their toes smoking? But when you consider the unconscious – the thoughts, feelings and motivations that “secretly” guide your actions — even the most irrational behaviors come in to focus. Consciously, you want to complete the assignment, find a healthy romance, and stop angering friends by running late. But deep inside, conflicting desires are at odds with your conscious intentions. Sure you want to prove yourself, but what if you unambivalently attack an assignment and then fail? What if you pursue a romantic partner who can truly nurture you — and he walks away? It feels worse to be rejected by Prince Charming than to stick with the jerk you know isn’t right for you. I have worked with numerous people who, on the verge of important accomplishments — or perhaps right after something good has happened — become anxious and yank the rug out from under themselves. It may seem counterintuitive, but it sure beats getting your hopes up and having somebody else dash them — especially if that’s been a frequent experience in life. By extinguishing your own hopes, ...

Stop Making the Same Mistakes

In life we have the opportunity to influence and to be influenced: When someone’s example is positive, it’s wise to observe, study, and emulate that behavior. However, when someone’s behavior is negative, we face a decision. What will we do? What do most people do? They get angry, right? We hear conversations about people’s frustration with the incivility of others everywhere—at work, at home, and in our communities. We hear about it on radio and TV. We read about it on blogs, Twitter, Facebook, and in newspapers, and magazines. We can’t seem to escape it. We’re all tired of it. And every day it seems to be getting worse. Incivility is a burden for everyone. And so we get all this negativity coming and going in three ways: Three ways that I refer to as “accepting, creating, and dumping garbage.” First, we let others dump their frustration, anger and disappointment on us. Second, we dump our fear, insecurity, and anxiety on ourselves. And third, we dump our judgments, vengeful thinking, and criticisms on other people. When we engage in this type of behavior, we’re acting like, what I call, “Garbage Trucks.” We’re filling up on the garbage of life and in turn dumping it on others. Here’s the real problem with that. The research demonstrates that the way we respond to daily hassles can have as much impact on our health and happiness as the way we respond to the heavy burden of divorce or bereavement. How can that be? ...

Don’t Let Others Dump on You, and Stop Dumping on Others

What is a weSourcer? A weSourcer is any person, charity, community or organisation that delivers a service or offering that is dedicated in improving everyone’s well-being (body, mind and soul). We know there are a lot of unsung heroes out there who are making a real difference to people’s lives, worldwide. It is important to let those voices be heard. Starting this autumn, we will randomly select a weSourcer to promote each month on our website. Why? Because of all the good things you do, we want the whole world to know about who you are, what you do and how you help. By sharing this, you empower others to do the same! So send us an email and let us know about the good things that you do or recommend someone who does!

weSourcers wanted

It is important to realize your self worth if you want to achieve anything in life. This is true, because you are a human being, and you deserve certain things in life, and deserve to be treated in a certain way. Your self worth is inherent in you, and does not fade in value or quantity in any way. Certainly, it does not disappear simply because you fail at something, or make a mistake. So how is your self worth realized? Many people will live their entire lives, and never fully realize their full potential. This can happen when they do not believe either in themselves or their self worth. Imagine being one of these people, living only for even the smallest tidbit of validation obtained from the approval of others. This is not a good way to live. Realizing your self worth can be accomplished in many different ways. One method that does not take much time, is to list all of your attributes, from good to bad, as honestly and accurately as possible using a simple assessment from 1 (worst) to 10 (best). What this method does, is gives you a good overview of how you see yourself, and how you think of yourself. Another method is to get helpful feedback from trusted friends, who you know will only give you an honest, straight answer. This is valuable because sometimes when assessing ourselves, we can become our own worst enemy. One really powerful method for helping ...

Do You Know Your Self Worth?

If there is one negative thing about humans inventing the clock, it’s the fact that we always seem to find ourselves running against it! Seriously, do you frequently find yourself rushing to get things done, and running out of time? You are not alone. It’s becoming increasingly difficult to properly manage our days and our time. Our complex society has made it almost impossible to do everything that we need to do in the allocated time we have per day. The result? People are frantically running around trying to get things done, which in turn creates very poor results. Think about it. How much more enjoyable would the drive to work be every morning if you weren’t in a rush? How much more fun would it be to finish off that project you’ve been working on if you weren’t so pressed on time? This constant rushing through life makes us unable to savor the precious moments of it. It is also why it feels like life is going so fast. We do not stop to enjoy it. So it feels like everything is always in the past. It feels like life is passing us by. Time is the most valuable commodity that there is. It is more precious than all the money & gold in the world. Therefore, it is in your best interest to create an environment in which you have an abundance of time. Yes, nobody has more than 24 hours per day, yet certain people can manage ...

Stop Rushing!

Forgiveness is more than just an action or a concept. We all know how powerful it feels when you let go of the anger or attachment of pain when we’ve been hurt by someone’s actions. A higher love takes us over. A deep sense of relief is felt. But did you know that there are some very practical aspects to forgiveness as well? According to the Mayo Clinic, here are some other perks to genuinely forgiving and letting go: Researchers have recently become interested in studying the effects of being unforgiving and being forgiving. Evidence is mounting that holding on to grudges and bitterness results in long-term health problems. Forgiveness, on the other hand, offers numerous benefits, including: Lower blood pressure Stress reduction Less hostility Better anger management skills Lower heart rate Lower risk of alcohol or substance abuse Fewer depression symptoms Fewer anxiety symptoms Reduction in chronic pain More friendships Healthier relationships Greater religious or spiritual well-being Improved psychological well-being The Practical Power of Forgiveness - Article by Only Positive News

The Practical Power of Forgiveness

The key to a better memory and mood may be as simple as hitting the gym. Lots of research shows that building your muscles also builds your brain. The effects can increase your brainpower, fight the mental decline that happens as we age, and ward off depression. So here’s how your brain reacts to a workout: It starts with the very first steps you take. Simply getting up and moving lights up your brain like a neon sign. That’s according to brain chemistry researcher, Dr. David Glass. Feel good chemicals start surging – it’s the same pleasurable reaction you get from things like chocolate, kissing, or drugs. And those feel good chemicals are what will keep you going even when you don’t feel like working out. Because the brains of regular exercisers anticipate how good they’ll feel from a workout and that becomes the motivation to get up and get going. Then, every time you exercise, new brain cells start forming. That’s because there’s more blood flow to your brain. So you’re literally building your brain. But don’t stick to the same routine day in and day out. Find a few things you like to do. Exercise that involves precise movement – like dance, yoga or tai chi – forces your body and mind to work together. And that can give you the most cognitive benefits. Another way exercise affects your brain? It gives you a buzz. There is such thing as a runner’s high and ...

The Key To A Better Memory
